Narsinghpur (Madhya Pradesh), May 13 Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday transferred more than Rs 1,835 crore to over 1.25 crore women beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana during a programme in Narsinghpur district.

The amount was transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries through a single click in the presence of a large gathering of women.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yadav explained that the transfer was made from Mungwani village and congratulated all the women who received the benefit.

He said, “Today, from Mungwani village in Narsinghpur district, an amount of more than Rs 1,835 crore was transferred with a single click into the accounts of over 1.25 crore beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana. Heartfelt congratulations to all the Ladli Behna beneficiaries of the state.”

Highlighting the government’s focus on women's empowerment, the Chief Minister said that new opportunities are being created for women in every field.

“Due to the government’s efforts, Nari Shakti is getting new opportunities in every sector. Women’s participation is continuously increasing even in fields like industry and agriculture," he said, addressing the event.

During the programme, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development works worth more than Rs 296 crore in the district.

These projects include roads, water supply and other public infrastructure works.

Meanwhile, he distributed benefits to beneficiaries under various government welfare schemes.

The Chief Minister also felicitated students for their achievements in academics, sports and cultural activities. He released a calendar showcasing the ancient heritage sites of Narsinghpur district.

Before the main programme, the Chief Minister visited exhibitions put up by different government departments at the venue.

He planted saplings as part of an environmental initiative and also performed ‘gau seva’ at Mungwani village.

Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana was launched on March 5, 2023, by former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The first instalment under the scheme was released on June 10, 2023.

Under the scheme, eligible women between 21 and 60 years of age receive monthly financial assistance directly into their bank accounts. The scheme aims to support women financially and help them improve their family’s condition.
