"Now I have come to know how important it is to be socially involved rather than hooked up in gadgets.

"The 21-day time is a long one, but we have to follow it for our own safety. The Prime Minister should ensure wages and implement 'Nyay' scheme so that poor do not suffer in this time of crisis", he added.

"21-day lockdown is a necessary step but if economic package for daily wagers, farmers, MSME & unemployment protection package is not announced immediately then the lockdown cure may worsen the economic disease beyond unimaginable proportions !! #COVID19 " tweeted Shergill.

The Congress has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi implement the minimum income guarantee scheme called "Nyay", which the party had promised but could not fulfil after its defeat in the election.

The Congress, in its manifesto, has said that 20 per cent poorest families in the country will get Rs 72,000 annually as part of its Nyunatam Aay Yojana (Nyay).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced complete lockdown for 21 days and allocated Rs 15,000 crore to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure to fight coronavirus in India.
