Coronavirus -ve paper must for Italy, S. Korean travellers in Gujarat

Following the Centre's guidelines, the Gujarat government here on Thursday said all incoming passengers from Italy and South Korea must carry COVID-19 negative certificate.

Gandhinagar, March 12 Following the Centre's guidelines, the Gujarat government here on Thursday said all incoming passengers from Italy and South Korea must carry COVID-19 negative certificate.

Also, from Friday all incoming passengers from coronavirus affected countries will be quarantined for 14 days.

The Gujarat health and family welfare department said till coronavirus cases subsided globally, passengers travelling from or having visited Italy or South Korea to India would need a certificate of having tested negative for the disease from the designated laboratories, authorised by those countries' health authorities.

Also, all incoming travellers, including Indian nationals, from or having visited China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, France, Spain and Germany after February 15, shall be quarantined for 14 days.

From Friday, all existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/international organisations, employment and project visas will remain suspended till April 15. The visa-free travel facility granted to OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cardholders will also be kept in abeyance till April 15.

Since January 15, the state government has screened 2,611 passengers for coronavirus. Of this, 65 people were suspected to be coronavirus carriers and quarantined. However, reports of 63 have been negative. Two reports are awaited.

A total of 1,217 passengers have completed 28-day observation period and they were certified to be healthy.

The rapid response teams (RRT) from six zones received special coronavirus training in Delhi, recently. Now the district RRTs will receive similar training through video link on Friday.
