New Delhi, March 17 Various efforts are being made at the global level to fight coronavirus. Out of several preventive steps, masks are seen as being important which has increased the demand for them.

Amid the increasing demand for masks, residents of Mustafabad and Khajuri are making them at their homes.

Some of them are using machines while some have employed workers to make the masks.

The masks which are being made in Mustafabad can be availed at lower prices.

Saleem, a Mustafabad resident, told : "We cut surgeon masks in our factory and then send them to Uttar Pradesh where they are finally made. The masks made in our factory will be exported to Dubai from where we have got an order worth Rs 5 crore."

"One mask in Dubai will cost Rs 14. We appeal to the people who suffered during the Delhi violence that if they want employment they can come here. We will give them a machine and they can make masks on it," he said.

Shahnawaz, another resident of Mustafabad, said: "The cost of a mask made in our factory will be Rs 50 which is much cheaper than the masks available in the market. From cutting to stitching, everything is done in our factory."

"I started making masks when swine flu spread and now when the demand has again increased we have started making them again," he said.

Despite the huge quantity of masks being sent to the market from here, there is a shortage of masks in Delhi due to which their prices have skyrocketed.
