India is witnessing an acute shortage of oxygen and other basic medical facilities required for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.Amid the ongoing second wave of the COVID-19 cases, many social workers, NGOs have come forward to provide help to people who are in need of oxygen cylinders, Remdesivir.

In another example of thoughtfulness, an auto driver Javed Khan from Bhopal, has converted his vehicle into an ambulance that also provides oxygen. He takes patients to hospitals for free. Javed, the driver, says, "I saw on social media & news channels how people were being carried to hospitals due to the shortage of ambulance. So I thought of doing this."

"I have been driving autos for 18 years. Though no one has been infected in my family, I was very disturbed by the rising death toll and wanted to do something about it with the resources I have," said Javed.

I sold my wife's jewellery for this. I queue up outside a refill centre for four to five hours & get oxygen. My contact number is available on social media. People can call me up if there's no ambulance. I've been doing this for 15-20 days now & have taken 9 serious patients to hospital, said Khan

"I have put sanitisers, some medicines, and an oxygen cylinder. In the past three days, I have helped 10 people who were in dire need to reach hospital," he added.

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the country, heroes like Javed give us hope.
