Srinagar, Jan 21 J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat said on Wednesday that anti-national elements must be firmly dealt with so that hard-earned peace prevails in Kashmir.

“Deal firmly and decisively with anti-national elements posing a threat to public safety, peace and tranquillity in Kashmir,” DGP Prabhat instructed security officers while reviewing the security situation in Shopian district.

During the meeting, the DGP J&K conducted a detailed review of law and order management, counter-terrorism preparedness, crime control measures and security arrangements for the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations.

He emphasised the need for heightened alertness, foolproof security planning, intensified area domination and robust intelligence-based operations to ensure peaceful and incident-free celebrations across the district.

He reiterated zero tolerance towards activities inimical to national security and stressed the importance of sustained operations against such elements and also urged officers to maintain a people-friendly policing approach while continuing to work with dedication, professionalism and commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure a secure environment for the citizens of Shopian.

Meanwhile, in preparation for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, police in Srinagar city have heightened security and inspection protocols throughout the city to guarantee a peaceful and safe Republic Day.

As the security has been beefed up, police personnel have been deployed at strategic locations across the city. Special checkpoints and mobile patrols have been established, where thorough checks of vehicles and individuals are being conducted, according to officials.

Night patrols and surprise inspections are also being carried out to maintain heightened vigilance and deter any attempts to disrupt public order.

More personnel have been assigned to sensitive areas, with a particular focus on monitoring suspicious movements as senior police officers personally oversee the arrangements to ensure the effective and seamless implementation of the security plan.

The police have requested the cooperation of the general public during the verification and checking processes and have requested the residents to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police.
