New Delhi, April 27 Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu on the eve of a special Delhi Assembly session called on April 28 to pass a resolution on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, along with other legislative business, an official said on Monday.
The Lok Niwas said on X, “Smt @gupta_rekha called on Hon’ble @LtGovDelhi, Sardar @SandhuTaranjitS, at @LokNiwasDelhi today.”
Apart from the obituary reference and tabling of copies of Finance Accounts and Appropriation Accounts of the Delhi government, the list of business for the session mentioned that a government resolution (under rule 90) will be moved by CM Gupta on the implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
It is expected that the House may discuss women’s reservation and may pass a resolution condemning the Congress and other Indian bloc parties for defeating the amendment bill on the issue in the Lok Sabha earlier this month.
Earlier, Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta issued a notification summoning the Fifth Session of the Eighth Legislative Assembly for Sunday, after obtaining Sandhu's approval.
In a related development, Speaker Gupta informed that the L-G has prorogued the Fourth Session of the Eighth Legislative Assembly with immediate effect on Sunday.
This formal order brings an official end to the prolonged session, allowing for a structured transition into the new session.
To facilitate the upcoming business, the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat has finalised all necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted conduct of proceedings, the statement said.
In view of the recent bomb threats, tight security measures and a comprehensive safety net have been established at the Old Secretariat to safeguard the members and staff during the session, it said.
