A tragic incident was reported from the New Usmanpur police station area of North-East Delhi, where a portion of a house collapsed up to the roof level in Gali No. 2 of Brahmpuri on Thursday. The collapse resulted in the death of an elderly woman who was trapped under the debris.

According to the police, the woman was inside the house when the structure suddenly gave way, burying her under the rubble. Local residents rushed to the spot and informed emergency services. Rescue teams, along with police personnel, carried out relief operations and managed to pull out the victims from the debris.

The elderly woman was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Her grandson, who was also trapped in the collapse, sustained injuries and was rushed for medical treatment. He has since been discharged after receiving first aid and necessary care. The police have registered a case against the house owner. Further investigation is underway, he added.
