Delhi govt begins relief distribution process for riot victims

The Delhi government on Saturday launched the relief disbursement process for the people affected by the violence in north-east district, where the toll in the clashes is over 40, official sources said.

New Delhi, Feb 29 The Delhi government on Saturday launched the relief disbursement process for the people affected by the violence in north-east district, where the toll in the clashes is over 40, official sources said.

A special team of the Delhi Government visited the badly hit Shiv Vihar area of the district to chart out a road map for providing relief to the victims. In addition to this, many special officers have been sent to other areas for disbursement of relief.

The Delhi government will be giving compensation to those people whose shops, houses and vehicles were torched by miscreants, for rehabilitation and rebuilding their houses and shops.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, "Those people whose houses have been badly damaged in the violence will be given compensation of Rs 5 lakh each."

The government will give Rs one lakh to the tenant, if any, while the remaining Rs 4 lakh will be given to the landlord for rebuilding his house. This compensation amount has been fixed at two and a half lakh rupees for the smaller houses.

According to Kejriwal, Rs 25,000 is being released immediately as relief. The remaining amount will be given after verification and submission of an application.

On Saturday, the Delhi government released the application forms for the compensation. The language of the application forms has been kept simple and in Hindi so that the victims of violence can give information accurately.

In the application forms, the victims families will have to fill their name, address, Aadhar card number, name of the deceased, their relationship with the deceased.

The Delhi government will give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of those killed in the violence.
