A high-speed collision on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway claimed the lives of two women and left three others injured early on Thursday morning, February 12. The accident occurred near the Ghazipur toll plaza when a car travelling from Ghaziabad rammed into the rear of a container truck.

Emergency services were alerted to the scene at approximately 6:43 am following a distress call to the police control room. The family were travelling in a car when its struck by the truck near the MCD toll booths, situated in front of the Vinod Nagar Depot.  Two passengers, identified by police as 38-year-old Deepanjali and 55-year-old Neelam Garg, sustained serious injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, Deepanshu Garg, and two minor children sustained various injuries and are receiving treatment at the hospital. They were rushed to Max Hospital in Patparganj for emergency treatment. Hospital sources indicate that the survivors are currently under medical observation.

Officers from the Ghazipur Police Station cordoned off the area on NH-9 to facilitate rescue operations and clear the wreckage, which caused brief traffic congestion on the expressway during the morning rush hour. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway, said Delhi Police.
