In Laxmi Nagar, East Delhi, police took strict action on Holi against traffic violations. Riders without helmets, carrying three or more passengers, or flouting other rules were stopped and fined. Vehicles lacking proper documents were also seized, emphasizing road safety during the festive celebrations.  The Delhi Police have put the city on high alert for Holi on Wednesday, deploying more than 15,000 personnel to enforce law and order and ensure road safety during the festival.

The Delhi Traffic Police has implemented extensive measures to maintain public safety and smooth traffic flow. Special teams are positioned at key junctions and accident-prone stretches to monitor speeding, reckless and zig-zag riding, red-light jumping, triple riding, riding without helmets, and performing stunts on two-wheelers. A senior police officer said teams have been stationed at 134 major intersections to catch drunken drivers. Serious violations could lead to suspension of driving licences for a minimum of three months.

How Residents Can Stay Safe

Drive responsibly and follow traffic signals.

Avoid using vehicles under influence or while distracted.

Wear helmets on two-wheelers and ensure seatbelts in cars.

Keep children and pets safe during celebrations.

Plan your route ahead to avoid congested or accident-prone areas.

Following these simple precautions can help residents enjoy Holi safely while avoiding fines or accidents.
