Heavy rainfall lashed parts of Delhi and its adjoining National Capital Region (NCR) early on Tuesday, August 20, providing relief from the humid weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded an orange alert for Delhi and NCR till 9.00 am on Tuesday. The weather department has warned of moderate to heavy rainfall of around 1-3 centimetres per hour over central and East Delhi during the next hour.

IMD also predicted a cloudy sky with light to moderate rainfall today. It expected a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.

"My vehicle suddenly stopped. I asked a few drivers to help me...To save my life I came out of the auto. The vehicle's paper is still in it," Auto-rickshaw driver said.

The continued downpours, however, resulted in waterlogging in some parts of the city. Traffic congestion and rain-related incidents were also reported in the early hours.
