It has been a week since the communal riots in Delhi broke out, starting with clashes between police and protesters . Shortly after one member of the ruling party made a call to arms within hours mobs carrying saffron flags, vandalized mosques and set to fire properties belonging to Muslims. As hate festered in the national capital the Delhi police and ruling party made a mockery of law and order which surprised nobody. That the capital was allowed to burn during the visit of an international delegate shows the utter inefficiency  of the govt. Meanwhile, it took three days for our Prime Minister to issue a statement while his backyard was burning ignoring hate speeches by members of his own political party.

The violence which raged across the capital saw brutality on both sides, with the Muslim community of Delhi being overwhelmingly targeted. The spark for the latest violence might be provided by the member of the ruling government due to their defeat in the Delhi election but it is the passing of the CAA which has caused such unrest in the capital. However, what lies ahead after the violence are scarred souls, destroyed homes, and uncertain future. Many might have escaped the mayhem but still the fear lingers in case of future riots were being planned and whether or not they are the target.

At the same time, the authorities are coming under sharp criticism for having filed no charges against leaders from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist party, some of whom have been openly making dangerous statements inciting violence which has killed many. Many may argue that this is done to protect the face of the government but the reality is the law makers themselves are not able to take stock of the situation which has gone out of hand and is taking shape of a evil monster which is on a destructive spree like never before.
