On September 9 and 10, New Delhi will play host to one of the most important geopolitical gatherings of the year: the G20 Summit India 2023. The Delhi government has declared a holiday from September 8 to 10 for the city's educational institutions, government and private offices, including banks, in advance of the summit.

The Delhi Police has issued a crucial notice addressing the no-fly zone and the prohibition of specific flying items in the National Capital Territory of Delhi in the lead-up to the G20 summit. Delhi Police issued the message for the general public on X, formerly known as Twitter. In preparation for the G-20 Summit in the National Capital of Delhi, it will be illegal to fly sub-conventional aerial platforms like paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, UAVS, UASS, microlight aircrafts, remotely piloted aircrafts, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircrafts, quadcopters, or parajumping from aircraft, among others, over the territory of the NCT of Delhi as of August 29, 2023.

However, the cops denied lockdown rumours but clearly stated that national capital would be declared a "controlled zone" during those three days. This means that all commercial establishments in the New Delhi district will be closed, and only bonafide residents of the area will be allowed to move around by displaying a valid ID. Essential commodities will still be allowed to enter the city through the borders. The statement from the Additional Labour Commissioner emphasized the significance of the G20 Summit, stating, "The G-20 summit 2023 will be held in Delhi from 08/09/2023 to 10/09/2023, which will be attended by various Heads of States, Heads of Government including EU, invitee guest countries, and Heads of International Organizations." Furthermore, it elaborated that the General Administration Department of the GNCTD (Government of National Capital territory of Delhi) issued a notification dated August 24, 2023, designating public holidays from September 8th to 10th.
