New Delhi, March 22 Delhi's borders with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh will be sealed from early Monday as the national capital goes for a lockdown till March 31.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, however, announced that essential items from neighboring states - food items like vegetables, milk etc. will keep coming.

"Lockdown in Delhi from Monday 6 a.m. to March 31 midnight. The borders will be sealed and only essential items will be allowed," Kejriwal said.

An order was issued by the city government saying the motorable and unmotorable borders of Delhi with neighbouring states of Delhi and Haryana shall be sealed.

"All domestic and international flights coming to Delhi will be suspended," it says.

It is important as thousands of commuters daily travel between the national capital, UP and Haryana for work and other businesses. The three states are well connected by train, metro and road.

While the Centre has suspended all the metros and trains, inter-state bus services will also be barred between the cities.

All the private offices, schools and colleges have been closed in Delhi.

However, people related to essential services will be allowed to move.
