Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey has given a clarification on joining politics and his resignation. On Tuesday, there were reports that DGP Pandey is soon going to resign from his post and he may contest the Bihar Assembly elections.

Gupteshwar Pandey said, "I have not joined any political party as of now and I have not taken any decision on it yet. As far as social work is concerned, I can do it without entering politics too."

He had recently took VRS from his services in Bihar Police as Director General of Police(DGP)

DGP Gupteshwar Pandey, who made headlines in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, had raised many questions over the Mumbai Police's investigation into the actor's death.

The Bihar Assembly elections are due in October-November and the tenure of the current Assembly is scheduled to end on November 29. The Election Commission has not yet taken a final call on poll dates in Bihar due to the coronavirus pandemic.
