Besides passing this in a resolution, a DMK emergency executive council meeting held here also condemned the state government on various issues and demanded immediate polls for urban local bodies.

The meeting, chaired by DMK President M.K. Stalin, was attended by party leaders and Members of the both Legislative Assembly and Parliament, among others.

The meeting urged the state government to hold the elections for nine urban local bodies soon after completing the necessary procedures like delimitation.

It also thanked voters for electing the party's nominees in the recently concluded rural local body elections.

The DMK also demanded that the ruling AIADMK government announce that it will not allow work relating to NPR and NRC in the interest of national unity.

Condemning the state government for its stand on dual citizenship for Sri Lankan refugees in the state, the DMK urged the AIADMK to press upon the central government to grant Indian citizenship for Lankan refugees.

The principal opposition party in the state, the DMK also resolved to unmask the AIADMK and reveal its true anti-people face, listing out several contentious issues like the common entrance exam for medical college admissions, delay in commissioning of the next phase of the Keezhadi excavation, and not opposing the central government order on removing the mandatory condition to seek public opinion for hydro-carbon exploration projects, among others.
