Gurugram, Oct 28 A doctor's charred body was found in his car on Wednesday morning near Ghamroj village on the Sohna Road, around 10 km from Gurugram city.

Deceased Kanwar Pal alias Sonu (35), a resident of Ghamroj, owned a private hospital in Sohna.

According to the police, Sonu left for his home from hospital around Tuesday midnight. His Maruti Celerio car running on CNG allegedly caught fire around 2.30 am.

When the villagers saw the burnt car along with the charred body in the morning, they informed the police. A police team reached the spot along with a forensic expert and sent it for an autopsy at the Sohna General Hospital.

Police traced and informed the family, who alleged that it was a murder and not an accident.

"Family members say that since the car was parked on the roadside, it is clear that someone killed Sonu and then set it on fire," said a police officer.

"We are investigating the case from all angles. The cause of death will become clear once we get the post-mortem report. The forensic team is collecting evidence from the spot. CCTV footage from surrounding areas is being scrutinised," ACP (Crime) Preet Pal Sangwan said.
