Dr. Balmukund Jha, a renowned pediatrician from Begusarai, tragically lost his life in a car accident near Chanda village on the Mokama-Bakhtiyarpur four-lane highway in Patna on Sunday, March 10. He was 48 years old. The accident occurred while Dr. Jha was returning to Begusarai from Patna. His driver, Santosh Kumar, suffered minor injuries due to the airbags deploying inside the car. According to the driver, an out-of-control vehicle collided with their car from the side, causing them to crash head-on with an oncoming vehicle. The police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving reports about the incident.
Dr. Jha was immediately rushed to Barh sub-divisional hospital, where he was declared dead. The occupants of the other vehicles involved in the crash sustained only minor injuries. The police sent Dr. Jha's body for post-mortem and launched an investigation. Abhishek Singh, SDPO-II of Barh, confirmed that the accident occurred around noon within the Athmalgola police station's jurisdiction. He stated, "Two vehicles collided, one of which was traveling on the wrong side. The third vehicle, which struck the doctor's car, was also speeding. The doctor died, while the others suffered minor injuries."Dr. Jha’s late wife, Dr. Amrita, a gynaecologist who ran Sarojini Health Care in Begusarai, passed away from dengue during Diwali in 2023, leaving behind their three daughters. Dr. Jha remarried about two and a half months ago, following his wife’s death.
