Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished people a “blessed and joyous” Easter on Sunday, April 20, and said the festival is more special this year because it is its Jubilee Year. "Wishing everyone a blessed and joyous Easter. This Easter is special because, world over, the Jubilee Year is being observed with immense fervour," in a post on X.

"May this sacred occasion inspire hope, renewal, and compassion in every person. May there be joy and harmony all around," PM Modi said. Easter is celebrated on Sunday, the joyful day in the Christian calendar, and the Christian community worldwide celebrates it.

Every year, Easter Sunday falls on April 20. Christians believe in this day life after death and God's promise of salvation. It is said that the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, as it is described in the New Testament of the Bible, occurred on the third day after his burial.

The day of Easter is celebrated by decorating egg hunts. This day is declared a holiday, which means it does not fall on a fixed date every year. The date of Easter Sunday is based on the lunisolar calendar.
