The Indian Embassy in Tehran issued an advisory on Wednesday, April 8, for Indians staying in Iran, asking them to leave the war-torn country immediately. The embassy has also launched new helpline numbers to assist Indian nationals stranded in the country.
"In continuation of the advisory of 07 April 2026, and in light of recent developments, Indian nationals still in Iran are strongly advised to expeditiously exit Iran, in coordination with the Embassy and using the routes suggested by the Embassy," the Indian Embassy said in a statement.
"It is again reiterated that there should be no attempt to approach any international land border without prior consultation and coordination with the Embassy," it said.

The embassy had earlier issued an advisory on Tuesday evening, advising its nationals in Iran to stay wherever they are for the next 48 hours.
According to data, around 9,000 Indians. About 18,000 Indians have flown back to India so far after the US-Israel strikes on Tehran on February 28.
Meanwhile, the US and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire deal on Tuesday, about an hour before Trump's deadline to "obliterate" the rival country was set to expire. The agreement came after Trump said he had spoken to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Army Chief Asim Munir, who had requested a truce, according to a NDTV report.
