Special Flight that was carrying 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana landed in Delhi on April 10, around 2:30 PM. He was being extradited from the US to Delhi. 64-year-old Rana is being brought to India to face legal consequences for his role in the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai that killed 164 people. The US Court denied his plea to stop his extradition to India. “Application (…) denied by the Court,” read the Supreme Court docket as updated on April 7. He is expected to be lodged in Tihar Jail, New Delhi. NIA will officially arrest him now.  A team of Indian NIA officials travelled to the US after the country’s Supreme Court dismissed Rana’s review plea seeking an emergency stay on his extradition.

Tihar Jail, in Delhi, and Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai have prepared high-security cells for the mastermind of the 26/11 attacks. NIA has also sought an official order to transfer his case from Mumbai to Delhi. Rana has been charged with criminal conspiracy, waging war against the government of India, murder and forgery, and under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. According to several media reports, a special NIA court in Delhi will now hear the mastermind of the terror attack. He won't be taken to Mumbai because the matter will now be transferred to Delhi. Tahawwur Rana could be brought before the Patiala House court in Delhi, where the case is anticipated to be heard by an NIA judge.
