An elderly man suffering from cancer allegedly shot his wife and then died by suicide in the Nandgram area of Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday morning, April 16. The deceased have been identified as Kuldeep Tyagi (60) and his wife Anshu Tyagi. According to police, Kuldeep used his licensed revolver to shoot his wife before turning the weapon on himself. The incident occurred at their residence. Hearing gunshots, neighbours rushed to the spot and alerted the police.

Police arrived promptly, took custody of the bodies, and sent them for postmortem. A suicide note recovered from the scene stated that Kuldeep did not want money to be spent on his treatment and that both he and his wife were unable to cope with the stress of his illness.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Poonam Mishra said initial investigations suggest that the incident was a result of family stress due to a serious illness. Other family members are being questioned to determine if there were any additional factors involved. Legal proceedings are underway, and further investigation is ongoing.

"In the Nandgram police station area, a man named Kuldeep Tyagi shot and killed his wife with his licensed revolver and then committed suicide. A suicide note was recovered from the spot, in which Kuldeep Tyagi mentioned that he was suffering from cancer, a fact unknown to his family. He wrote that he did not want money to be spent on his treatment, which is why he took both his and his wife's life. The matter is under investigation," said ACP Poonam Mishra.
