Panaji, Nov 16 A 29-year-old woman and her accomplice have been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband's aunts, both senior citizens, in a North Goa village, police said.

The incident took place late on Sunday the Siolim village. A police officer said that the two senior citizens were first assaulted by a pedestal fan and later hacked with a chopper blade. The incident occurred when the husband was away.

The accused Rovina Lobo carrying her one-year-old son and her associate Subhan Rajyaballu, 28, were arrested on Monday morning, hours after they fled from the scene, by officials of the Anjuna police station.

Police have said that Rovia and Rajyaballi committed the murder of Marta Lobo, 64, and Vera Lobo,62, because of alleged harassment meted out to her by the deceased.

"Rovina hired Subhan Rajyaballi to execute the murder plan because both the aunts were not in good terms with her," Anjuna police station in-charge inspector Suraj Gawas said.
