Gujarat BJP MLA from the Umreth Assembly seat, Govindbhai Parmar, has passed away after a short illness. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Anand district, where he breathed his last. As soon as the news of his death spread, a wave of mourning swept across the entire Umreth region and the BJP family.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the passing of Govind Parmar, Taking to X, PM Modi said, "I am saddened by the news of the passing of Shri Govindbhai Parmar, a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. He was always dedicated and committed to social welfare activities."

"Prayers for the peace of the departed soul and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family… Om Shanti…!!" he added.

Govindbhai Parmar was a dedicated grassroots worker of the BJP. He was elected as an MLA twice. He first won the Umreth seat with a landslide victory in 2017 and was re-elected in the 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections. Always ready to address public issues, Govindbhai made important contributions to development work in the region.

Several senior BJP leaders expressed deep grief over his death. BJP state president Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma paid tribute through a post on social media platform X. He said, “Govindbhai’s death is a big loss for the party and the region. I pray that God grants peace to his soul and gives strength to the family to bear this loss.” Local leaders and party workers also described his death as the end of an era in Anand district politics.

Talking about his political journey, Govindbhai Parmar was first elected as an MLA after winning the 2017 Assembly elections. The BJP again placed its faith in him in the 2022 elections, in which he secured a landslide victory from the Umreth seat by receiving 95,639 votes. The demise of Govindbhai Parmar, who came from a humble background, has spread deep grief across the Umreth constituency.
