A fire broke at a high-rise society in Greater Noida West in the early hours of Monday, April 20. The incident occurred in a flat on the 12th floor of Tower 21 at La Residentia Society, located under the Bisrakh police station area. The fire spread rapidly and engulfed the entire flat. However, all family members managed to escape safely, and no casualties were reported.
According to reports, Dhirendra Singh, who lived in flat number 1202, was at home with his family when, at around 1 am, neighbours alerted him about a fire in the balcony. The family immediately contacted the maintenance team, but adequate firefighting equipment was not available. As the situation worsened, the fire department was informed.

Three fire engines were rushed to the spot, and after nearly two hours of firefighting operations, the blaze was brought under control. By then, most household items, including beds, sofas, a refrigerator, air conditioners and mobile phones, had been destroyed.
Preliminary investigations point to a short circuit as the possible cause of the fire. It is suspected that a spark in the wiring may have triggered the AC compressor, leading to an explosion and rapid spread of flames. However, the family has claimed that the AC was not switched on at the time.
District Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar said the fire was reported around 12:45 am and was contained in time, preventing a larger disaster. The incident has once again raised concerns over fire safety preparedness in high-rise residential societies, particularly the availability of basic firefighting equipment.
