Ahmedabad, April 22 An interstate coordination-led operation by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has resulted in the arrest of an absconding accused in a murder case registered in Aurangabad district of Bihar, officials said on Wednesday.
The accused, Nazre Alam, 26, was wanted in connection with a case registered at Barun Police Station on April 1.
The case has been booked under Sections 103(1), 61, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
As per the complaint, the deceased, Dilip Kumar Singh, had received a phone call during the night and subsequently left his residence.
He did not return home thereafter. His body was discovered the following morning near a tyre puncture shop, with his throat slit.
The circumstances pointed towards a planned and violent attack, according to the investigation record.
Following the incident, the accused had been absconding and is believed to have moved to multiple locations to avoid arrest.
Police officials stated that sustained surveillance and intelligence gathering were initiated to trace him.
Acting on specific inputs, the Crime Branch deployed technical and human intelligence resources to track the accused.
Officials confirmed that mobile call detail records were analysed to establish movement patterns and possible hideouts.
This data was corroborated with field intelligence inputs collected through coordinated efforts.
A Crime Branch official said the breakthrough was achieved after “continuous tracking of digital footprints combined with actionable human intelligence inputs across jurisdictions.”
The operation also involved coordination with law enforcement agencies in Bihar to verify details and ensure the suspect's accurate identification before interception.
The accused was subsequently located and apprehended in Ahmedabad without resistance.
After confirmation of identity and preliminary verification of his involvement in the Bihar murder case, Alam was taken into custody.
He is being handed over to the Bihar Police for further legal proceedings and investigation in accordance with procedure.
Officials stated that the arrest reflects coordinated interstate policing efforts in tracing individuals accused of serious offences who attempt to evade law enforcement by relocating across state boundaries.
The investigation in the case remains ongoing under the jurisdiction of the Bihar Police.
