A disturbing case has came to light where a 21-year-old woman from Gujarat's Ahmedabad has accused her husband and in-laws of harassment and abuse. She got married, in Saudi Arabia on May 2023. As per the report she alleges that while living with them in Bapunagar, they forced her to wear a nightgown constantly and mistreated her when she refused. She also claims her husband controlled her daily schedule, including her sleep and wake times. This control and abuse escalated after she moved to Bapunagar, where her in-laws live.

As reported by TOI in her complaint, victim stated that her husband, a doctor, developed a drinking problem after their marriage and became verbally abusive when she confronted him about it. Instead of helping, her in-laws defended her husband and began mistreating her as well. She was also forced to massage his legs before sleeping. Furthermore, her brother-in-law and his wife constantly criticized her and turned her husband against her.

The woman stated that her husband's control over her routine led to arguments when she resisted. Tensions increased after a family trip to Kashmir in May, causing her to return to her parents' home. Despite attempts to resolve the issues, her husband showed no interest in reconciliation. Consequently, she filed a complaint with the Vejalpur police, and authorities have launched an investigation.
