Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday greeted people on Hanuman Jayanti, saying the life of pawanputra is a symbol of devotion and strength which inspires us to face every crisis and overcome it. “Heartfelt greetings on the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti,” he tweeted. It is believed that Lord Hanuman, also known as Maruti, Pawanputra, Kesari Nandan and Bajrang Bali, was born on this day. According to Hindu beliefs, Lord Hanuman is the symbol of energy and strength, and people worship him to ward off all evils. 

Devotees on this day perform puja by offering vermilion or red cloth, with flowers like marigold, rose and offer laddu, halwa, banana as prasad, visit temple, carry out processions and religious gatherings. This year, amid coronavirus lockdown, no processions will be carried out and no religious gatherings are going to take place. Various kinds of foods, sweets and flowers are also offered to Lord Hanuman and distributed to his followers as Prasad. The festival is celebrated with immense devotion by Hindus and the different aspects of Hanuman are remembered and worshipped on this day.
