Haryana to provide land for historic gurudwara in Sirsa

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday announced that 9.75 acres of land would be transferred to Gurudwara Chilla Sahib in Sirsa where Guru Nanak Dev is said to have lived for a time.

Ownership rights of land, which at present rest with the state government, would be transferred in the name of the gurudwara where Guru Nanak lived for four months and 13 days during his journeys.

Khattar made this and several other announcements while addressing the state-level function organised to mark the 550th Prakash Parva of Guru Nanak Dev here.

The Chief Minister also announced that the state government would provide all support and cooperation to Gurudwara Chilla Sahib for starting projects for public welfare.

He announced that one acre land would be provided for the setting up of a Sikh dharamsala and for this the Deputy Commissioner has been asked to identify suitable piece of government land.

He also announced to that a Sikh museum in Kurukshetra would be set up as an inspiration to the young generation and said 400 posts of Punjabi teachers would be advertised soon to give more recognition to the Punjabi language.

He announced that signboards in the name of Guru Gobind Singh would also be installed on the National Highway passing from Haryana up to the border of Punjab and Rajasthan.

The Chief Minister said the state has formed a trust named after Sikh warrior Baba Banda Singh Bahadur for the development of Lohgarh as a tourist destination.

A memorial of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, a museum and a martial arts institute would soon be constructed in Lohgarh with the help of the trust, he added.
