Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 12 A verbal duel between BJP MLA Rajkumar Sahyogi and Gonda police station SHO Anuj Kumar Saini and accusations by both about manhandling by the other on Wednesday led to tension in the district, sources said.

According to reports, the MLA went to the police station along with his supporters and ABVP activists regarding a case registered against a party worker.

The MLA accused the SHO of taking money to register the case. This led to heated arguments between the two, during which the legislator reportedly pushed the SHO.

Police sources said that Sahyogi "manhandled" the SHO, while the MLA claimed that the police officer along with two other Inspectors beat him and tore his shirt.

He demanded immediate action against the police officers.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Atul Sharma reached the spot as tension escalated between the two sides.

Area BJP MP Satish Gautam also reached the spot and demanded action against the erring cops.

Senior district officials, meanwhile, refused to comment on the incident since the policemen were also said to be resentful of the legislator's behaviour.
