Himachal Pradesh Weather Update:  Cold wave has gripped north Indian with some cities experiencing heavy snowfall. On Tuesday, IMD forecasted light to moderate rain and snowfall across most parts of Himachal Pradesh. Heavy rain or snow likely at isolated places, particularly in the higher reaches of the state.

As per the IMD reports, Shimla, light to moderate rain and snowfall were recorded at several places in the state during the past 24 hours. Gondla received the highest snowfall of 22 cm, followed by Kukumseri (21.3 cm) and Kothi (20 cm), while Bharmaur recorded the highest rainfall at 14 mm. Gusty winds were reported from Kufri and Narkanda, with speeds touching 52 kmph, and thunderstorms were observed in Shimla.

Minimum temperatures have increased at many stations, according to the IMD, though Una and Mandi experienced cold day conditions. Tabo recorded the lowest minimum temperature at -8.9°C, while Paonta Sahib had the highest maximum temperature at 23°C on Monday.The IMD forecasts light to moderate rain and snowfall across most of the state on January 27, with isolated heavy precipitation possible in high hill areas. Dry weather is expected on January 29. Another western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from the night of January 30, bringing renewed precipitation.

The IMD has forecast a 3-6°C drop in minimum temperatures over the next 3-4 days, with a sharp dip in maximum temperatures expected in the next 24 hours before a gradual rise. A weather warning is in effect for Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti, with isolated heavy rain or snow, thunderstorms with lightning, and gusty winds anticipated. Cold wave and dense fog conditions are also expected in isolated low-lying areas and plains over the coming days.

Residents and tourists are advised to exercise caution, especially in snowbound and landslide-prone areas, adhere to traffic advisories, take precautions against cold weather, and stay updated on oafficial weather forecasts.
