Kolkata, April 15 Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday made a strong statement alleging that former Trinamool Congress legislator Humayun Kabir, who recently floated his own political party and is also contesting in the upcoming West Bengal elections in the state later this month, is a plant of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to indirectly facilitate the construction of a Babri-style mosque in the state.

"Mamata Banerjee wants to build Babri Masjid by expelling her pawn Humayun Kabir from her party. Mamata Banerjee and her nephew should listen to this loud and clear -- Babri Mosque will never be built on this land,” the Union Home Minister said while addressing a campaign rally at Falakata in Alipurduar district on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he also accused Mamata Banerjee of focusing over the last 15 years only on promoting her nephew, although he did not directly name Trinamool Congress general secretary and the party’s Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee.

“The Chief Minister had only one nephew, whom she wanted to succeed her as the next Chief Minister of West Bengal. For Prime Minister Narendra Modi, each one of you is either his niece or his nephew. But Mamata Banerjee should get it loud and clear -- your days will be over soon. Today, a Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Minister took oath in Bihar. In neighbouring Odisha, there is also a BJP Chief Minister. Now it is the turn for West Bengal,” HM Shah said.

Earlier, addressing another rally at Rajganj in Jalpaiguri district, he said that just as in Assam, illegal infiltrators have been identified and deported from the country, the same would be done in West Bengal after the BJP comes to power in the state.

“You just cast your vote in favour of the BJP this time. It will then be our duty to track illegal infiltrators and those within the Trinamool Congress who helped them settle in West Bengal. At the same time, anti-social elements enjoying the patronage of the ruling party will also be arrested and sent behind bars," the Home Minister said.
