A Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas of the Indian Air Force crashed near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan on Tuesday, March 12, during an operational training sortie.  The Indian Air Force said that the pilot had ejected safely. A court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.

“One Tejas aircraft of the Indian Air Force was involved in an accident at Jaisalmer today during an operational training sortie. The pilot ejected safely. A Court of Inquiry has been constituted to determine the cause of the accident,”  said the Indian Air Force. More details are awaited.

This came when a large-scale 'Bharat Shakti' exercise was underway at Rajasthan's Pokhran firing range. It showcases the capabilities of domestically manufactured defence equipment from the three services. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Army Chief General Manoj Pande actively participated in the event.
