Gurugram, Oct 25 A man has been arrested for allegedly running an illegal drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centre in Sector 40 of Gurugram.

A case was registered against the suspect identified as Balram, a resident of Gurugram, under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and IPC Sections at Sector-40 Police Station Gurugram.

The arrest came after the Haryana Chief Minister's flying wing, along with a team of the Social Welfare Department, conducted a raid at the rehabilitation centre on Wednesday and busted the illegal centre.

The suspect told the raiding team that this de-addiction centre was being run for the last two years. Medicines were also given to patients without the doctor's advice.

"The suspect is running this illegal centre named 'Awakening rehabilitation centre' without legal documents," Harish, an official of the CM flying wing said.

During the raid, 12 patients were found admitted on the spot who were being treated.

At the centre, normal charges of Rs 40/45 thousand per month were taken for the treatment and for VIP treatment of Rs 70/80 thousand per month in which facilities like AC room, LED etc. were provided.

"Accused has been arrested, further interrogation, " he said.
