The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday attached the property of Basit Reshi, a terrorist, who belonged to the proscribed terror outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), in the Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

NIA attached the property of Basit Reshi, who is currently in Pakistan and has been declared a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA).

Basit, a resident of Yemberzalwari had executed an attack on a police guard post in the Tujar Sharief area on August 18, 2015, in which a cop and a civilian were killed.

Born on March 4, 1996, Basit Ahmad Reshi, was designated as a terrorist by the Centre on October 4, last year, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

He was designated as a terrorist for his involvement in terror acts including "subversive activities and coordinating target killings in Jammu and Kashmir".

In a notification issued in October last year, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) designated terrorists considering Reshi's involvement in "subversive activities and coordinating target killings in Jammu and Kashmir".

"Reshi planned and executed a terror attack on a police guard post of shrine Baba Ali Raina at Tajjaur Sharief Peth Astan in Sopore on August 18, 2015, in which one police personnel and a civilian were killed," the notification mentioned.

The notification also mentioned that Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen is listed as a terrorist organisation under the First Schedule to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
