A 42-year-old woman and her 30-year-old lover were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing her husband and attempting to cover up the crime by setting his body on fire. The two accused, Gopali Devi, a resident of Sanganer, and Deendayal Kushwaha, originally from Sawai Madhopur but living in Muhana, were reportedly involved in a premeditated murder plot, according to DCP (South) Digant Anand.

The victim, Dhanna Lal Saini, a vegetable vendor, was killed by the duo, who then transported his body to a forested area in the jurisdiction of Muhana police station. There, they set the body on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence. The police began investigating after a charred body was found near Ring Road on March 16, despite the lack of information and the incident taking place in a remote area.

DCP Anand revealed during a press briefing that Gopali Devi and Kushwaha had been in a long-standing romantic relationship, which she had concealed from her husband by pretending to work at a clothing store. The pair had planned to flee after committing the crime but were apprehended before they could carry out their escape. The investigation continues as authorities uncover more details about the circumstances surrounding the murder and the actions of the accused.
