A gun man who identified himself as Rambhakt Gopal Sharma opened fire at people protesting the citizenship law near the Jamia Millia Islamia university in Delhi this afternoon, causing chaos and panic in the area. One person has been injured. The gunman was seen wearing a black jacket and a pair of white trousers, he opened fire at the protestors by shouting "Yeh lo aazadi (here's your freedom)". 

Home Minister Amit Shah has said strict action will be taken against the teenager who opened fire and injured a Jamia Millia Islamia student during a protest against the contentious citizenship law outside the university today. The central government, the Home Minister said, will not tolerate any such incident.

"I have spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner... and instructed him to take strict action. The central government will not tolerate any such incident, it will be taken seriously and the culprit will not be spared," Amit Shah tweeted this evening.
