Student organisations have been demonstrating for several days over their demands. Today, several students were detained by authorities, and a riot control vehicle was seen outside the university. Reports indicate that the protest was against disciplinary action taken against two PhD researchers.

Following this, the students launched an indefinite protest. The individuals facing disciplinary action are allegedly associated with Jamia Resistance Day, which marks the anniversary of the anti-NRC protests in 2019. The protest was organised by the All India Students' Association (AISA), a Left-affiliated student organisation, calling the university's action an attack on campus democracy and an attempt to suppress student activism.
