Ten individuals tragically lost their lives when an SUV skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and plunged into a gorge in Ramban district. According to officials, the incident occurred around 1:15 am at the Battery Cheshma area of the district. The vehicle, which was traveling from Srinagar to Jammu, fell approximately 300 feet into the gorge.

Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel are at the spot. The bodies of 10 passengers have been recovered amid heavy rains, the officials said.

Officials have confirmed that among the deceased in the tragic incident, the car's driver, Balwan Singh (47) from Amb Ghrotha in Jammu, and Vipin Mukhiya Bhairagang from West Champaran in Bihar. A rescue operation is currently underway, as stated by the authorities.
