At least seven people, including a couple and their 5 children, were feared killed as a landslide levelled a residential house in the Mahore area of Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Saturday morning, August 30, according to the news agency PTI, quoting officials. According to reports, the incident occurred after intense overnight showers lashed the area.

As per ANI, the incident occurred in Badr village of the Mahore area in Resaid district. The death toll may rise as several more are buried under the debris of landslides. The Indian armed forces and the Jammu and Kashmir police in the area conducted the rescue operation. Many homes are reported to have been washed away in flash floods and landslides.

The owner of the house, Nazir Ahmed, was residing with his wife and two minor sons, who are now missing and are feared dead. 

Earlier on Saturday morning, at least four people were killed and one more person is missing as heavy rains triggered cloudburst in the Rajgad area of Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban.

Union MoS Jitendra Singh spoke to District Commissioner of Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan to review the stock of the situation of the affected area. "Cloud burst in Rajgarh area resulting in the unfortunate casualty of four persons. The fifth one is missing and the search is going on. Meanwhile, there is no injured. Rescue operation is on. Every possible assistance being provided. I am in Constant touch," he wrote on X.

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) is currently closed due to multiple damages caused by landslides and falling rocks resulting from heavy rainfall.
