On March 2, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. In the meantime, a major weather system is expected to cause extreme hailstorm activity over Punjab tomorrow, stated the Met Office.

As per the press release of IMD issued on March 2, isolated to scattered or moderate rain and snowfall with thunderstorms and lightning might hit Ladakh, Gilgit, Balistan, Muzaffarabad, and Uttarakhand on March 3 and 4.
