In a shocking incident, 32-year old Neeraj Kumar Mehta a fire department constable tragically took his own life by hanging during a video call with his wife in Jharkhand’s Koderma. The incident happened in Lengrapiper village, which falls under the Domchanch police station. His wife was away at her maternal home in Ichak, Hazaribagh, for her sister’s wedding. A heated argument broke out between the couple when she didn’t immediately return home after the ceremony. The argument escalated during their video call, ultimately leading to Mehta taking his own life. He was employed with the Nagaland Fire Department and had been on leave. He left behind two daughters and a son.

According to family members, Neeraj’s wife immediately contacted his relatives after witnessing the tragic event during the video call. However, they reached the room too late. The police were informed and arrived promptly at the scene. They took custody of the body and transported it to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Prior to his role as a fire department constable in Nagaland, which he secured six months ago, Neeraj Mehta was a teacher at a local private school. He had recently returned to the village on leave. Domchanch police station in-charge, Omprakash, confirmed that an unnatural death case has been registered.
