Sahibganj, Jharkhand (April 1, 2025): A collision between two goods trains on the Farakka-Lalmatiya MGR railway line in Sahibganj district resulted in two deaths and left four others injured early Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when a coal-loaded goods train traveling from Lalmatiya crashed into an empty stationary train at Barhait MT. The impact destroyed both engines and triggered a fire. Firefighters responded quickly and managed to douse the flames.

Both loco pilots lost their lives in the crash. One body was recovered and sent to the hospital, while the other remained trapped in the wreckage at the time of reporting. The four injured individuals, including railway workers and CISF personnel, were taken to a nearby community health center for treatment.

Train operations on the affected line have been suspended, and authorities are investigating the cause of the collision. Local residents and railway staff assisted in rescue and relief efforts.
