New Delhi [India], May 18 : Justice Manoj Jain of the Delhi High Court will now hear the CBI's challenge to the discharge of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other accused in the Delhi excise policy case.

The matter is scheduled to be taken up tomorrow (Tuesday).

The case was earlier heard by another Bench, which later directed that the matter be placed before the Chief Justice for reassignment following subsequent developments during the proceedings.

The CBI has challenged the trial court order discharging Kejriwal and others in connection with alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi excise policy.

Meanwhile, the separate criminal contempt proceedings arising out of the matter have reportedly been assigned to a Division Bench comprising Justice Navin Chawla and Justice Ravinder Dudeja.

During the earlier hearings, the High Court had made observations regarding public statements, social media posts and circulation of edited video clips relating to the case and the judicial process.

The Court had also observed that criticism of judicial orders must remain within constitutional and legal limits and that remedies against judicial decisions are available through the appellate process before higher courts.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and Additional Solicitor General SV Raju had appeared in the matter and supported the continuation of proceedings on the CBI's plea.

Following reassignment, the excise policy matter will now be heard by Justice Manoj Jain tomorrow at the Delhi High Court.
