New Delhi, April 9 Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Thursday assured NCP Working President Supriya Sule of firm action against the alleged financial irregularities at the Satara post office, which the Baramati MP had flagged.

Scindia responded to a message from Sule, saying, “...we have taken note of this matter at the Satara Head Post Office with utmost seriousness and have taken prompt and responsible action.”

In his social media message, the Union Minister said, “An immediate departmental inquiry has been initiated, and the case has been forwarded to the CBI, where an FIR has been registered, and the investigation is underway. Claims are being processed with due diligence, including forensic verification where necessary, to ensure that only valid claims are settled.”

Scindia said, “Maintaining the trustworthiness of our @IndiaPostOffice postal services is our topmost priority, and it is for this reason that this action has been carried out swiftly, systematically, and without any compromise.”

Earlier, Sule approached the Union Minister seeking an early remedy for claimants who were unable to get their claims.

On Wednesday, Sule said in a message, “In April 2024, financial irregularities were uncovered at the main post office in Satara. The CBI investigated the matter. Subsequently, claims for 80 to 90 account holders were prepared.”

“Some of these signatures did not match, so their claims were sent to the Forensic Department in August 2024. Remarkably, the claims of 15 to 20 individuals among them have still not been received by the account holders. They are all frequenting the office in frustration. It is essential that all these claims be disbursed immediately,” she said.

“Moreover, strict action is expected against the accused in this entire case. I request the government to take serious note of this, as it concerns the credibility of postal services,” said the NCP leader.
