Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Congress leader Kamal Nath on Saturday approached Supreme Court challenging the order of the Election Commission of India (ECI) revoking his star campaigner status for MP by-elections.

Election Commission of India on Friday revoked the star campaigner status of Congress leader Kamal Nath, citing repeated violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Earlier in the day Nath had said,"Star campaigner is neither a post nor a status. I don't want to comment on EC's decision, will comment only after 10th Nov. In the end, public matters the most & they know everything"

While campaigning in Dabra segment in Gwalior district, Kamal Nath had said,"Our candidate is not like her... what's her name? (people shout Imarti Devi, who is former State Minister) You know her better and should have warned me earlier... ye kya item hai"

Voting on 28 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh by-polls will take place on November 3 and the results will be declared on November 10.

By-elections are due on 28 seats following the resignation of 25 MLAs and the death of three legislators earlier.
