Srinagar, March 5 The Kashmir Press Club has voiced concern over the alleged harassment of two video journalists by police in south Kashmir.

According to a statement the two were stopped by the police from conducting their professional work on March 4 in Pulwama, and their camera and two mobile phones were snatched and returned after almost five hours with all data deleted.

"As per the written testimony by two cameramen Qayoom Khan and Qisar Mir, working for CNN-News 18 and TV9 Bharatvarsh, the duo was stopped on Wednesday by a police officer in front of SSP Pulwama," it said.

Mir said that their cameras and phones were snatched by the police officer when they were covering a raid by a probe agency in Pulwama.

"Mediapersons in south Kashmir are being harassed while covering their professional duties," Mir said.

He said he was stopped at Babgund in Pulwama and thrashed by security personnel on February 29 during a cordon and search operation. He also alleged that he was "made a human shield" by the soldiers.
