A potentially fatal accident was narrowly averted in Pajamallur, located in Kerala’s Malappuram district, after a student lost control of his motorcycle due to a sudden deterioration in his health. The incident occurred when the student, while riding along a busy stretch of road, became unwell, lost his balance and fell directly in front of an oncoming bus. Alertness and quick reflexes on the part of the bus driver prevented a major tragedy. The driver immediately applied the brakes, bringing the vehicle to a halt just in time and avoiding a collision. The dramatic near-miss was captured on nearby CCTV cameras, with the footage later circulating widely and drawing attention to the driver’s presence of mind.

Fortunately, the student did not suffer any serious injuries in the incident. The episode has once again highlighted the importance of defensive driving and constant vigilance on crowded roads, where timely decisions can make the difference between life and death.

In other accident-related news, senior Malayalam actor and producer Maniyanpilla Raju was arrested by Thiruvananthapuram police on Friday morning, February 6, in connection with a hit-and-run case that left two youths critically injured. The accident took place around 9.30 pm on February 5 near the Trivandrum Club in Vazhuthacaud, when a car registered in the actor’s name allegedly rammed into a motorcycle carrying two 20-year-olds, Nivedith Krishna and Suraj. One of the victims suffered fractures in his leg, while the other sustained spinal injuries. Both are undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

Following an investigation, Raju, whose real name is Sudheer Kumar Raju, appeared before the Museum police station, where his arrest was formally recorded. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act for rash driving and leaving the scene without offering assistance. Speaking to the media, the veteran actor acknowledged that he was driving the car but claimed the motorcycle hit his vehicle. He said he panicked after the crash and returned home, citing health issues, including recovery from chikungunya and his past battle with cancer. He also denied being under the influence of alcohol, stating that he has abstained from drinking for the last two years.
