The Gandhidham Municipal Corporation (GMC) has began demolition drive to clear 130 illegal encroachments with police support on Friday morning, February 27, as part of ongoing urban development initiatives. 

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Ramanuj stated that the corporation aims to free the city from encroachments on both public roads and private plots.

Speaking to the news agency ANI, Ramanuj said, "This will enable key infrastructure projects in cleared areas," he said. The operations have proceeded without major incidents, involving coordination with police, PGCL teams, health officials, and local residents.

Earlier, GMC had issued notices to illegal residents to evacuate and asked them to move to another location before the demolition drive.
